Feeling a bit like driftwood today and need to learn how to swim! We have a great business that my wife and I we’ve built since 2016. We’re bleeding right now and although we are doing what we can the future is uncertain for us and our potential clients. So what do we do to keep the business ticking over, generate more bookings and deliver our product. Do we look for additional revenue streams or focus on our core. Our business is called ‘Gather & Gold’ and we’re based in Wanaka, we specialise in hiring giant Nordic tipis for events, CI and weddings and all the good stuff that goes with it.
Kia ora Manaaki team,Thank you so much for giving us a hand up in May to find us a temporary kitchen. It gave us a lifeline to keep us going. Since then, we’ve been working on securing our own kitchen since June. Sadly, the agreement to lease for the property fell through on the day before we went into Level 3 lockdown. We were disappointedby the landlord’s cold attitude and even more devastated by the outcome. It’s not easy toaccept everyone’s 2+ months of hard work dissipated just like that. It’s heartbreaking to think that we have let our bakers down, plus two other social enterprises that we’re sharing the kitchen with. We’ve looked at hundreds of properties online and 20+ in person, scanned through 30+ real estate agents’ website database. So far, nothing suitable, yet. We’ve grieved. We’vere-grouped. And we’re ready for a Cookie Comeback Challenge! Time is not on ourside and our reserves are dwindling down. We can’t do this on our own so we’reseeking everyone’s help and support – Kitchen, Sponsorships and ChristmasCookies. Check out the social media post and the details.Support Required:1. What’s the best way for us to reach the right landlords, commercial real estate agents, property fitouts and corporate sponsors?2. Our reserves are thinning – What funding options do we have as a for-profit social enterprise?Knowing there are folks like Manaaki who cares for the vulnerable communities gives us the courage to keep going. Thanks Andy, Pat and Monty!Kia kaha and be kind to each other,Graeme Haddon & Eric ChuahCo-founders of The Cookie Projecthttps://thecookieprojectnz.com/
How can I attract potentials clients from FB on for my coaching business. What do I post, share etc?
My business turnover for a small business is great, but my profit isn’t. Also cashflow is preventing me from moving forward into areas that I know the business would be able to generate more sales/income. We have already tipped money into the business and not sure we want to do more. When do you know it’s time to pull the pin?
We are a small civil infrastructure company in South Auckland and would like to move into the training field. We currently offer wheels, rollers and tracks endorsements among other assessment workshops using connexis ito units standards but would like to open our own facility maybe even provide training with organisations such as MSD,Inworks and other Maori, Pacific Island establishments who have a training need. We have two NZTA approved and Connexis certified infrastructure lv3 assessors/tutors and access to a large Auckland based network of external providers of certification and practical worksite experience. We have an idea for a short course and consist’s of what the current market requires in the Civil Infrastructure incl a few extras to help the trainee be more versatile to an employer and skills to help with job opportunities We have no online presence but is in the plan for te near future.
Hi we have a business growing and making Manuka oil. We have had very little success in growing our business and now we basically have zero money for advertising or anything else. How can we grow without an income?
Hey there! We launched our e-commerce business in Feb this year. The sales have been great even with the lockdown. The key successes we saw this year was that we hit a 5 figure income, we have a growing brand with a few retail partnerships and have a very promising product with trademarks and supplier relations in place. The biggest roadblock currently as a solo entrepreneur is for me to decide whether to invite a partner to help me scale the business or sell the business as is. I say this because my mental energy has fully drained and in order to put in more innovation and scale I need someone to help me. How do I evaluate my business and estimate how much it is worth? I’m either looking to sell a share of the company or sell the company as a whole. Thank you,
Tena Koe, I have a product that initially was received well into the market. I withdrew the product after some complaints were made about ‘cultural misappropriation’ and concerns around Tikanga. Is Maanaki in a position to support entrepreneurs at negotiations with Iwi? Thank You. Bevan

We are just starting on our business journey. All the fundamentals are in place e.g. registered limited liability company, we have an accountant, etc. We have been invited to submit a proposal, to vy for a public service commission tender. We specialize in the what the public service commission want but we have never done anything like this before. Where do you recommend we start?
