Kia ora,I currently have my own small business but have been approached by a contact overseas who wants to open a local office here in NZ. There is an opportunity for me to run the local operation here and help to build it from the ground up. The business is successful but will take some time to get going here locally and start bringing in revenue. I have worked for the company before and have a great relationship with the owner despite having not worked together for many years. Question: I have no idea on how I should be looking to structure the arrangement as this is all quite new and foreign to me!! I would like to be able to have an informed conversation and put forward a proposal that we can work on together. Should I be looking for salary + equity + profit share. Just equity. Hourly rate while we build it up and then share. Just salary. It’s new ground for me so really appreciate any advice and guidance around how to tackle this. Many thanks in advance Manaaki community!

Hi,Over the past 15+ years we have developed a unique Health & Well-Being system which we took on-line approximately four years ago. This system makes use of the Neuro science facets of Memory Reconsolidation and the Incongruity Resolution theory and as such is a ‘disruptive’ approach to the way mental and physical health and well-being is currently handled.The very nature of this system means it is difficult to break through the confines of existing parameters around conventional and current practice.To date we have marketed our system via social media and word of mouth and have members across the world. In addition we have published a series of books, both ebooks and soft copy, to go with the system.We are looking for assistance to break through those existing confines in order to take our product to and benefit a wider audience.If someone is able to point us in the right direction, that would be really appreciated.

Hi there, my name is Fitzgerald and I run a very specific party business, a mobile Nerf and laser tag party operation called Nerfun. Nerf is a popular blaster toys brand among kids of various ages, typically around the age of 8.I am based in Auckland. I have been running this for about 8 years now and I have been getting quite a few of enquiries from people all over the country, especiall Hamilton as no one is offering the services I am here in Auckland. In fact, I was one of the first to run something like this in the world (to the best of my knowledge) and definitely the first in New Zealand.So I do need help with business expansion. I have thought about franchising and even met with a franchise consultant a few years ago. However, I am wondering about other methods of expansion, such as employing someone, contracting or licensing (I’m a little confused by this, is it the same as franchising?).Anyway, thanks very much for reading this and for any help or advice.Cheers.Fitzgerald

I have a great business advisor via NZ Business Mentors, and am following the next steps we planned together. But I will soon need more funds to grow the business, ive considered crowd funding but my ideal would be to find a business investor, who also wants to work with me in developing the business. Any advice as to the best way to approach this would be much appreciated. Kia Ora whanau, anei taku patai I have a small tarot reading business online I want to know if any one knows of some suppliers who sell tarot cards and crystals, sages ect and what would you advise that I sell on behalf of the supplier until I can afford to buy enough stock or should I just go all out and try sell my own from the supplier as I am funding savvy I could look around for help and buy my own merchandise I already have tshirt designs, looking for a supplier, printer,T-shirt supplies also and wanting do like cups and maybe incense yea thanks manaaki you guys are just awesome.

Hello,How do I know when is the best time to open a brick and mortar store?My wife and I currently run a small custom clothing and gifts printing business we do most of our sales online through Facebook and our website but our local community (Kawerau) does not really know we exist. We currently run everything from our home so we do not want random people just walking up so we have not dome much advertising that we exist locally in the local area – we are thinking it is a missed opportunity not having locals know we exist and think opening a shop/ store front will help with that problem.Do we just take the plunge and try it out – or are there some indicators that we can look at and gauge if it is the correct move or not?
