Hey there, im a new small business, do you know if I would be eligible for the wage subsidy? I have 2 staff and 1 starting on 16th august. I own a hair salon and have to close and I have no income coming in? how will I pay them for these 3 days and if the lockdown is extended ? my email is amymartin415
When can I apply for the new wage subsidy extension?
If I’m not in Auckland, can I still get the new wage subsidy extension?
How can we access the services and funding that should be available via the Regional Business Partner Network?I have asked this in a reply to an earlier piece of advice but I though it might be best as a separate question. We would love to tap into the options available via the RBPN but we have been registered for some years and despite filling out another Covid related survey via ATEED to get assistance on 29 June – over 5 weeks ago. We’re still waiting for ATEED to come back to us – there is no timeline and they didn’t even respond to our last email to see if the support they can offer is worth waiting for. Are there other options other than going via ATEED? We are nearing a key stage for our business so the long wait is a bit stressful.
How does the wage subsidy extension work? Can I apply for it now for the first time?
I’ve lost my business as a result of COVID, can I get the income relief payment?
Is the small business loan still available?
Hi , firstly I saw an article the other day by Andy Hamilton regarding helping start-ups , and it made a lot of sense . Thanks ! My problem is that 12 months ago I started working on an idea for a job listing site . I have spent quite a bit of time and money getting most things in place . I was still working a lower-paying day job , and borrowed some money . Yes , I know , it was a punt , it was always going to be tight , but I felt it was worth a try .Then Covid hit , my income dropped to below my rent and loan repayments ( which total around $3000 a month ) and I have used up all my money , the site development ( mostly done in Australia ) has stalled , there are ongoing costs ( only a few hundred a month , a business phone line , internet , site hosting is on a dedicated server on contract , etc ) . Even things like travelling to Australia for one-on-one training , which has effectively already been part-paid for as part of the contract , won’t happen , both because of Covid , but also airfares and accom would be a problem now .The site never traded of course , I have a Business Number , but it has never paid me anything ( no wages ) , and it has never filed a GST return or had any income . Basically , I don’t seem to qualify for any Government help , I’m out of $$$ and the loan payments will start being dishonoured in a month . Total expenses ( which have been paid from my bank account ) are around $50k , but more than half of that is website costs , so around $20k has been spent in NZ , and therefore I may be able to claim a couple of thousand in GST back . Apart from that , which may stall things a month or so , any ideas ?By the way , I have talked to the 2 main lenders , no real help ( and some extra fees too if I refinance , to really rub it in ) .I appear to be one of those zombie businesses that has fallen through the rules — Covid has cost quite a bit , but as I wasn’t trading or employing anyone pre-lockdown , I don’t seem to qualify for anything . Thanks .
I want to reach out to government departments and essential businesses. I own a professional decontamination service, Zecon (www.zecon.co.nz). We were called to action to manage decontamination at the Auckland COVID-19 quarantine facility at the Whangaparaoa defence force base and we are now ready to help the healthcare industry, food industry, transport industry and other essential businesses protect their staff and communities. We have trained and experienced teams ready to be deployed 24/7.
Hi experts,I was made redundant due to covid, and am currently collecting the jobseeker benefit. I have since been offered a well-paying role, although this is not what I want to be doing. I was the primary earner in our family of four, and have a home mortgage of around $400k to service. (This is currently on interest only)I have now been presented with an opportunity to start a new business which will take up all of my time, and I was wondering if starting this business will immediately affect the jobseeker benefit, or will that only cease when the business returns a profit or pays me a wage? Is there any financial assistance for unemployed people to start a business? Anything specifically for businesses that have a great environmental impact? Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I am a cafe owner in Hamilton. I bought the business 18 months ago by taking a loan on my house. I worked incredibly hard and have managed to pay back the loan in January 2020. However because I put all my profits into paying back the loan, I didnt have much additional capital spare when COVID hit. Plus a put in some new gear in January e.g. new coffee machine. During COVID I have had to pay rent, lease on EFTPOS machine, lease on coffee machine plus ensure I was paying staff enough to get to the 80% salary level for each staff member to get the Wage Subsidy. I have talked to my landlord and other suppliers to get holidays/reduction on my fixed monthly costs. All of them have said no. Therefore during Lockdown I had zero revenue and used up all my excess capital on the costs mentioned above. We have re-opened but business is only a fraction of pre-COVID. I am now getting close to the decision of closing my business. The bank wont loan money on my house as the business cant service it. I dont want to take the government small business loan as if I am honest the fundamentals of my business are not going to get back to a sustainable level. I plan to close the business. Does anybody have any ideas or comments. Thanks in advance.
I hear that Callaghan Innovation has just released its R&D funding programme of Loans if you are an R&D intensive business? Can anyone tell me the key terms of eligibility?
