Reply To: A staff member has resigned and has a 4week notice period.  As we are a retail store and unable to open, and the staff member has been receiving 80% of their wages for the past 4weeks already (without working), do I have to continue paying for the entire 4week notice period?

Hi there, the simple answer is yes, you have to pay your employee during their 4 week notice period. You can talk to your employee to see if they would be interested in an early release date (if they are going to a new role this is sometimes desirable) but this can only be done with their agreement.
