Hi there – firstly, I love that you reinvented your career at 70. You are a wonderful role model. Sole traders are entitled to apply for the wage subsidy, as long as you can show that your business income has been affected by 30% or more, along with the other criteria. This website covers everything you need to know. If in doubt, apply and see what they say! https://workandincome.govt.nz/products/a-z-benefits/covid19-wage-subsidy.html Best wishes to you. Fiona
Here’s the specific link to the self-employed application:
https://services.workandincome.govt.nz/ess/trader_applications/newAgree with Fiona above and suggest that you apply for the wage subsidy. If you are self employed with no staff, the subsidy will form part of your taxable income at year end in your income tax return, your IR3 but you won’t have to account for GST on it if you are registered for GST.
