Question :
I have recently lost employment as a Trip Leader involved in tourism within New Zealand due to Covid – 19. I wish to start a music based business. This would include development of a website, facebook & instagram pages. It would include recording songs & placing these on various music platforms. It would also include marketing to & playing at live venues. My question is: Is there funding availible that has been created, due to Covid-19, that I could apply for so as to develop the aforementioned business. Thanks very much

Morena, unfortunately I am not aware of any Government Covid-19 relief for people starting businesses since Covid-19. I would think in time, there will be support coming out of MSD and maybe other Government agencies for people who have lost jobs and want to retrain, but I am just not sure in time.
Think about what you do now which costs nothing e.g. Facebook, Insta and setting up a website via one of the free platforms – try Facebook Shops or one of our Swiftly.nz websites via the Manaaki 1000 Websites initiative – https://www.manaaki.io/1000websites/
Good luck. A
Hi, really sorry to hear you’ve lost your job but good on you for thinking of starting your own business. Terrific! I’m afraid I can only endorse what Andy has said. I’m not aware of any specific funding. Did you have a poke about on CreativeNZ’s website here… https://www.creativenz.govt.nz/find-funding … could be something there… very best of luck, Suse
