LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS.

Question :
If lockdown is only 4 weeks, what happens to the 12-week wage subsidy?

We received “12 weeks’ worth” of wage subsidy and are paying those out every pay cycle (fortnight for us) – are there official info on what happens if the lockdown is lifted after 4 weeks? E.g. returning the balance to the government.

  • Hi Kaveman, the period of lock-down is not relevant to the subsidy requirements, more that you commit to keeping the team employed. So when and if the lock-down changes, then you just work out what can be done from a business perspective around return to work. Note, if you are forced to let go of people who you have received a wage subsidy for, then you maybe asked to refund that part.
