LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS.
Question :
Kia ora, e te whānauI run a consultancy business and we are in the fortunate position to be experiencing growth in these uncertain times. I am looking to improve my ‘business fitness’ and would like to engage a lawyer, accountant and insurance advisor. We are a ‘conscious’ business so people, planet and ethics are important to us and our clients who are often social enterprises. Ideally we would find suppliers who share these values. With this in mind, I would be interested to know if any of the experts can recommend people in these areas? I am based on the Kāpiti Coast but happy to work with people in other areas. Posting in ‘social enterprise’ but also relevant to ‘legal’ and ‘services’ sub-sets. Ngā mihiBee

So glad to hear that your business is thriving in these troubled times. It sounds like you would benefit from finding like minded business owners that share tips and recommendations like the ones you’re asking about. Have a look on Facebook… there are some awesome small business communities like: https://www.facebook.com/collectivelynz/
(Disclosure… I’m totally biased about Collectively but their are many others to choose from)
A great place to connect with Kiwi Business owners for savvy advice:)
Morena Bee – I have put a few words out to some people on this – Andy

Great to hear you’re experiencing growth during this period – congrats! I’m sure that feels a positive step forward. A couple of recommendations for you:
1. Accountant – I’d suggest starting with Beany which offers a fully online service for small businesses with unlimited email/phone support – https://www.beany.com/.
2. Lawyer – Suggest Steven Moe from Parry Field Lawyers. He has good social enterprise knowledge – https://www.parryfield.com/portfolio-item/moe-steven/.
Sorry don’t have an insurance adviser recommendation. As a starting point, I can see Crombie Lockwood offer insurance for non-profits – https://www.crombielockwood.co.nz/industries/not-for-profit/.

RochelleKia ora,
I would also recommend Steven Moe as a lawyer with considerable social enterprise expertise.
In regard to Accountants, I would 100% recommend Fairground. https://fairground.co.nz/. They are themselves a certified social enterprise, so they walk the talk! Talk to Charmaine in Wellington.
BDO are also good from an audit standpoint and have a lot of experience in working with social enterprise and charities.
Fairground should be able to recommend insurance agents.
