    If you are self employed, not under a business structure and have no staff working for you, you can apply for the self-employed (no employees) wage subsidy. Here is a link to that page https://services.workandincome.govt.nz/ess/trader_applications/new

    Hi Mel, As you know contracting can be a great way of life but it comes with many obligations that employees don’t have. Also it comes with less protection as contracts can be terminated with just cause. My advice would be to use this time to explore new contractor opportunities through recruitment companies that place contractors. Also I’d focus on other skill sets you could utlise during this time for other ways to gain income security. As you will have worked out you can apply for the self employed wage subsidy. Don’t forget that this is taxable income (less GST).
