Two things – there has never been more money in the economy looking for good ideas to invest in; and 2nd it is still super hard to raise funding because of the high failure rate of so many startups.
There are non equity based funding options around – like if your project has lots of R&D – they have Government organisations like Callaghan Innovation who can support some of the R&D costs; if it is not that, then there are a few incubators and accelerators who do provide funding e.g. Creative HQ runs some, Soda in Hamilton and Flux in Auckland – they will likely take some equity for that investment.
