- My husband Ryan and I have started a furniture/product company. Based in Papamoa. Starting with small things to then fund for the bigger pieces of furniture. Long term goal is we both work full time for Plan D living the dream and funding a wonderful life for our 3-year-old. Currently, Ryan is working full time and I work for myself with another new business Voom Design Interior Architecture and Architectural Design (another story). Finally after 2 years of finding companies that would work with us and have a standard of finish required we have produced two sets of bookshelves, book holders (that don’t run away from each other when they should be holding your books up) and coat hooks. They are about to come back from the powder coater for me to photograph and somehow sell. We also have skateboard seats. We have an Instagram, Facebook (@PlanDdesign_NZ) and a holding page at the moment for a webpage (PlanDdesign.com). Not sure which way to put ourselves out there. Looking at possibly doing the General Collective market in Auckland for Christmas maybe that would get our name out there ideas?

- Hi guys, I have a small online shop that ticks along but I think some products that I’d like to push further are ones that people need to see and feel before buying. I’d love to get these into some stores, but I just don’t know where to start! Questions going around in my head are: Do I need to have stock first before approaching store buyers (some are still in development but I have samples)? What is a typical wholesale margin? What are the agreements (buying vs commission based)? Are there legal implications that I should be thinking about? Is there a ‘retail mentor’ out there or are there other resources that I could look at to help guide me through some of these questions?

- I am a second hand book dealer, have got one of your websites, but have only sold some books to a friend. Been handing out a little ‘blurb’ with each sale, but would really appreciate if you guys could look at the website and suggest what I could do to get moving. Thanks Twyla at dickensbooksnapier.swiftly.nz

- Hi Experts bonjour-havelock-north.myshopify.comAbove is the link to my online store set up by myself, with remote help from a friend over the last five weeks. It isn’t working. Once you see it I’m sure you’ll know why. It’s clunky, hard to navigate and rather boring. I don’t know what else to do. I’ve attended multiple online courses and am overwhelmed. I’m not tech savvy (circa 1960) but have tried my very best. I have spent a lot of time loading stock onto the store and still have a lot more to do in that regard. I understand I need branding and marketing strategies also. I need help with this too. I’ve owned my store for only 19 months and I love it so much and I’m feeling desperate not to lose it. Thank you in advance for your help.

- Working to keep our retail team engaged while they’re at home during lockdown. Has anyone found/used any existing online retail sales training, preferably NZ based?

- Kia Ora whanau,Appreciate this platform and all of the love here. I own a sandwich deli/’house’ which prior to covid I was looking to scale into a multi site business, having just committed to a lease in AKl cbd for location number 2, I’m lucky in that the property owner is an absolute legend and had no expectations around seeing that through immediately. I guess provided the lockdown doesnt remain for too long, im in an OK position. I’ve built a model that’s really sound financially whilst keeping its authenticity, in a saturated market I think weve positioned ourselves nicely to provide a service thats needed and that wont change. (sorry that sounded like some lame elevator pitch haha) I think despite the hard times, im super aware of the opportunites that arise in a crisis, and really want to leverage all i can. I guess im hoping to spitball with someone about ideas, a mentor of sorts if anyone had any interest in what my plans where for the immediate. Lots of love to all, Huri

- We don’t have PayWave. Is that the only option for contactless payment? What if we sanitize our Eftpos machine between customers?

- As a sports/school/corporate apparel supplier, how do we attack these early days of trying to get people buying again when they, alot of them like us, are also not going to have the spare income to spend. How do we start the chain that will enable us all to free ourselves of our fear? Especially when there is still so much of the “unknown”?Thank you all so much for your help, love and sharing of expertise. Grant

- Hi . We run a small footwear retail business and have done so for 37 years . We use our database of customers and facebook as a major part of our marketing program . My question is when we are allowed to reenter the market place do you suggest that we go back with a short term aggressive discount marketing program or continue on with our normal marketing program which is more informative marketing than hard sell ? The informative marketing program has worked well in normal trading times but the present could be called anything but normal .RegardsGrant Collins

- Hi all, my name is Chris, myself and my business partner have put together a software solution for retail stores called LineMate that we hope could be of use to some of you. LineMate is a digital and SMS tool that serves two functions, firstly to facilitate contact-less queuing outside of busy stores, and secondly to fulfill the governments requirement of Contact-less Click ‘n’ Collect protocols to be used under Level 3 lockdown. We have a functioning application that will be ready for stores to begin rolling out as soon as Level 4 is lifted. This will allow any store that can operate on a phone / web order basis to begin operating a Contact-less customer collection workflow, enabling your business to get back to work sooner. We can customise as needed for your store’s specific workflows, and are currently working with a number or large NZ retails chains to make this a reality. If you have any questions, or would like to be setup with some more information and a demo please contact me on chris@resync.digital. Cheers!
