Kia ora, Ko Renee tōku ingoa, I am based in Perth, Australia, and I launched my pakihi Māori in August of this year.  I have been struggling with marketing and sales.  I have paid for facebook ads that have generated alot of interest but that never convert to sales. The basis of my business: Customers send through a photo, and can choose to get canvas or photo prints of their tamariki that also includes the pepeha and birth stats of the pēpi, all in te reo Māori.  I do baby bodysuits with printed pepeha on them as well as bedroom posters for tamariki to hang on their wall.  pepi-prints.com is my website.  I know that my product is extremely niche, but I believe that it can be a success with the right knowledge, would love some assistance.Ngā mihi ki a koutou katoa 🙂

We started a business almost 3 years ago now, and have seen consistent growth, year on year. Our business is seasonal though, so we are looking at two things:1. Increased awareness, sales and distribution in NZ2. Exporting to Northern Hemisphere countriesRegarding these two points:1. We don’t feel that we have got our online strategy entirely right – is there someone able to help us with this? We need help with achieving point 1… mainly in terms of marketing…2. We really need guidance on how to go about exporting. We have been in touch with NZTE but it is very slow in responding, and we are itching to get moving… Any advice/support here would be fantastic.

Hello Hello again, we are launching a platform which will change the way people see and experience New Zealand. We understand one of the best things about New Zealand is the people. So we offer a product that not only markets and sells tourism to visitors but elevates and markets our communities as a destination. We make exploring New Zealand easy.We want to be involved or at least have the opportunity to show our product with regional tourism managers throughout New Zealand. We are at the free trial period of our business so are looking at on-boarding tourism providers from different areas of New Zealand. We want to collect feedback.I would love to be able to show the product to someone in tourism or technology to get constructive feedback.

I’m bringing out a new line based around sacred rituals. Should I create a specific umbrella for this line and place it under my current business? My current business is Kawakawa Spa Rongoa Clinic being both product and service. There is also another line under it I’ve created called Whakaora.

In May this year I launched a new podcast called Kiwi Foodcast. Our goal is to share the real stories behind NZ’s food entrepreneurs, writers and those working in the F&B industry and show that there is more to Kiwi food than pies and sausage rolls. We have had about ten episodes release on a weekly basis and I am now looking for ideas and assistance on how I can spread the word about my podcast so we can get more listeners. I have tried the below approaches:1. Ask the guest to promote their episode – Not much success as the guest maybe promotes it once on one medium and that is not really enough. I do usually send them marketing material they can use easily but that hasn’t really helped.2. Social media – I am currently doing about 3 posts on Instagram, 1 on LinkedIn and 2 on Facebook for each episode. The reach for these posts is quite limited as my page only has 100 followers3. Facebook groups – Have tried posting on Facebook groups like Chooice but I guess its not the right medium as people don’t recognise a podcast as a ‘business’ as such. I would really like some more ideas of no-cost marketing/promotions I can do to get the word out there. I want to reach out to the media but not sure how or where to start with this.

Ruapani ki Waikaremoana owns a small Lodge – about 35 beds. Due to lockdown we lost 3months bookings and almost went bust. To make matters worse our then General Manager took out a PG against the Trust, and that will probably lead to mediation. To save the business we quickly applied to MSD to become a provider for Emergency Housing. Caring for our people has been quite profitable and allowed us to keep our doors open. However we wish to re-open for the tourist season here, which usually starts in October and runs through to February-March. We’re not sure how this is all going to pan out, and would like some advice about a new strategic direction for the business.

      Question submitted 31/07/20 @ 02:08pm

Kia ora Manaaki team,I am Karla Sanders and since 2013 I have been part of the youth-led bullying prevention charity Sticks ‘n Stones and I need your help to try and get a high profile Kiwi to support an awesome fundraising opportunity we have secured.  Here in NZ, bullying is something that impacts far too many of us.  It makes us feel worthless, helpless and like we don’t matter.  Being ‘different’ makes so many of us a target for others trying to feel powerful or in control.  The effects are massive and many adults still feel these years later.  It stops us from being fully who we are )or could be), it also stops too many of us from taking opportunities and exploring our goals, hopes and aspirations. Our work is around empowering young people aged 8-18 with ongoing, high-quality support and training to develop their skills and confidence to recognise and prevent bullying behaviours.  We work with almost 800 young people every year. This year we have been offered an incredible opportunity to be part of a national fundraising auction in November to help us raise much-needed funds (alongside some other incredible charities). We are looking for a high profile Kiwi ambassador to stand alongside others like Joseph Parker, Nadia Lim and Temuera Morrison and team up with us and be involved in three easy ways:1) A short video message (recorded on your mobile phone) supporting Sticks ‘n Stones for the Give A Damn media campaign 2) A shoutout on your social media platforms with the auction link when the auction goes live 3) A prize for the Give A Damn “15 Minutes with Fame” auction item series to support our cause. The prize would be a 15-minute video call with yourself at a mutually agreeable time over the next 12 months. Is there anyone in the Manaaki community that can help us out??  Together we can make bullying a thing of the past and working alongside our young people is a crucial part of this. Thanks so much for your timeSmilesK
